Marquis Expands Their Showroom And Collections

Purveyor of luxurious and timeless furniture collections since 1993, Marquis is an established leader in Singapore's luxury market. Providing the local market with classic and contemporary collections for over a decade, their showroom at Tai Seng Street has undergone a renovation and expansion. Adding another 5,000sqft of space to its sprawling premises, it now totals to an approximate 25,000 sqft destination showcase.

Renowned for their existing 6 key collections housed in distinctively elegant mono-brand areas, Cierre, Porada, Emu, Meridiani, Visionnaire and MisuraEmme, 5 more brands have been added, with Hamilton Conte helmed as another key brand with its own distinctive mono-brand area.

Although contemporary design remains the favoured genre, there is an increasing number of well-heeled consumers who are open to exploring different looks for their home and even looking to designs from past eras for inspiration. Jean Wee, CEO of Marquis Furniture Gallery observes, “Customers may still want to retain a modern and contemporary look, but with touches of vintage or rustic elements for a warmer atmosphere. We see an emerging trend of people looking for something different.

Hamilton Conte stands out with the variety their collection offers. Striking a balance between the refined, the raw, and the rustic, these include complementing industrial metal finishings like decorative brass or cast iron with natural materials like wood and fabric, highlighted with high-gloss lacquered surfaces and decorative veneers.

Signature pieces include the Olaf lounge chair that has been given a fresh interpretation from the 1960s, the looped Brass Rings table/stool that melds the interplay of geometric shapes with burnished metal, and the Apollon suspended light that translated industrial design with its use of hammered gilded resin, becoming an elegant metalised golden disc. Another new brand with its range of desks and tables include Dom. Subdued in its use of colour, minimalistic in its styling, old and new classics satisfy exacting demands through the use of the finest materials, flawless finishes and unobtrusive patterns revealed only through the organic lines of dark ebony wood polished with high gloss.

Opera, a collection by the esteemed Angelo Cappellini, harks back to the modern classic era of Italian craftsmanship. Refined Italian leather, sinuous lines and classic shapes take on high style with functionality. Slightly quirky brand Umos, plays with colours, nature inspirations, and expressive shapes, restyled into exquisite statement pieces. Its multi-faceted mixture of materials, shapes and surfaces converge into an artistically-charged aesthetic.

The collections have more edgy offerings, as we found that you can still do up your home in a contemporary style but have one or two pieces that are more decorative and it still complements one another,” says Jean. Another new addition, Les Heritiers, established lighting brand, completes the look with its range of ornamental lights to adorn the showroom. Leon Choong, showroom manager at Marquis adds, “We aim to be able to offer our customers more choice, but with careful curation, maintaining the high standards that Marquis is known for.”
